new, experimental and experiential writing workshop

Announcing a new, experimental and experiential writing workshop at The Center in Sequim (map: http://g.co/maps/4wktm ) Tom Pitre, B.F.A., M.A., and author of Wind of the Green Hula Girls, Flash Fiction and Assorted Prose Pieces, and Short Shorts, will offer a 10-hour, five session class in “Flash Fiction and Fable*.” Class fee: 99$. Each workshop begins at 10AM and dismisses at 12:30 PM, given time for logistics and short, comfort breaks. We would like to offer this class, beginning in May. Please email thomaspitre@gmail.com with the word WRITE in the subject line so we can be in contact with you. Classes are limited in size. All ages are welcome. Small classes afford more attention to individual students and hasten the level of trust necessary for a writing class where work from the head and the heart is shared. Duplication costs are included, as hard copies are necessary, but materials will be made available on line for download and printing, and we will make scanned copies available of pertinent materials. Students may download materials as required. Students will be invited to showcase their writing on the workshop leader’s personal web site. We will make an effort to keep censorship at bay, as this is a creative environment. Most recently, Tom studied Writing Compelling Fiction with Angela Rydell at The University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has studied Perfecting The Practice of Poetry, with Aholaah Arzah, MFA Student, Goddard College, Port Townsend, and received private mentoring and coaching in writing and including poetry, with Patty Kinney, MFA, author and writing teacher. An Art Major and English minor as an undergrad and grad student at The San Francisco Art Institute and San Francisco State University has formed his unique perspective on creativity and communication. *Fable: a fictitious story or tale, intended to instruct some useful truth or to amuse

Shoes. 88 words

The whole animal rights group wore the same shoes. They were like slippers. Low cut, brownish gray, and flat-heeled. Jim was the founder of the group, and when he was killed in a motorcycle accident, he willed his body to the group, leaving his largest organ and his savings to them. Jim’s largest organ was his skin, and he stipulated that all members of the group dispose of their shoes made with animal skins, and wear shoes fashioned from his skin. Everyone in the organization wore Jim Shoes.
